YOUNG TIBETAN RESEARCH SCHOLARS’ CONFERENCE

Broad Theme of the conference: Tibet and Tibetans in exile: Prospects and Challenges
Young Tibetan Research Scholars’ Conference is a flagship event of the Tibet Policy Institute (TPI). The TPI serves as a policy research centre of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) to identify potential prospects and problems for Tibet and the Tibetan people.
Young Tibetan Research Scholars’ Conference is being organized as a result of resolution passed by the governing body of TPI, to inspire and nurture young Tibetan research scholars in the Tibetan community. Tibetan intellectuals and scholars have a major role in shaping sophisticated and strong arguments for the concerns of the Tibetan people. Therefore, TPI takes the responsibility in creating a permanent avenue for young research scholars to share ideas and research findings, and to build network.
Participants can present paper on any of the following themes.
1) Tibet: Social and economic development issues
2) Tibet and its environment
3) Tibetan language and culture
4) Tibetan nationalism, identity and politics
5) Tibetans in exile
6) Tibet and China
7) Tibet in India-China relations
8) Status of Tibet in international relations
9) Chinese leadership on Tibet
10) Militarization of Tibetan Plateau
11) Any other topic related to Tibet and Tibetans in exile
Guideline for paper submission
Abstracts should be between 200-350 words and must include the author’s name, institutional affiliation, email and postal address, together with the title of the paper. Only Tibetan research scholars pursuing Ph.D. and M.Phil., program, affiliated to universities in India and abroad* and research institutions are eligible to present papers.
The full paper in draft form should be between 3000-3500 words.
Papers may be written in either English or Tibetan. Same applies for presentation.
* TPI will not be able to fund flight ticket for successful candidates from abroad
Deadline for submission of paper and registration
Conference registration: All interested participants are requested to fill in the registration form before Monday, 10th August 2015. Registration form can be downloaded from the conference announcement in TPI website.
Abstracts submission: Monday, 31 August 2015. Please send abstracts to Mr. Rinzin Dorjee at [email protected] Abstracts will be evaluated by a committee and selected submissions will be notified by Tuesday, 10 September 2015 by email to the selected presenters.
First draft of the full Paper submission: Wednesday, 30th September 2015.
Final Paper submission: Friday, 9 October 2015.
All the presenters travel and lodging expenses will be reimbursed by the TPI. Selected papers will be published in Tibet Policy Journal and uploaded in official website of TPI.
