
Tezu, Arunachal Pradesh: On Wednesday, 11 February 2026, at 9:30 a.m., the Hon’ble MLA of Namsai, Chau Zingnu Namchoom, was warmly welcomed as the Chief Guest at the Multipurpose Cultural Hall, Namsai. The reception featured traditional Tibetan welcome dances, Tashi Shoelpa, Lion Dance, and Dro, performed by students from Miao and Tezu, respectively.
The Hon’ble Chief Guest was accompanied by His Eminence Dzogchen Ganor Rinpoche; Deputy Commissioner of Namsai, Shri C.R. Khampa; Deputy Commissioner of Lohit, Shri K.N. Damo; Shri Nakul Chai, Former Minister of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh; Superintendent of Police, Namsai, Shri Sangay Thrinley; Superintendent of Police, Lohit, Shri Thuten Jampa; ZPM Tezu; the Vice Chancellor of Arunachal University of Studies, along with faculty members and students; BJP Senior Leaders; and the BJP President of Namsai.
The event commenced with the inauguration of a photo exhibition on His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, highlighting His Holiness’ biography and lifelong dedication to world peace. Presenters from Tezu and Miao explained the exhibition comprehensively to the dignitaries and visitors.
After the completion of the photo exhibition at 11:00 a.m., the cultural programme began with a traditional Tibetan religious dance called Cham, followed by the felicitation of the dignitaries and a welcome address by the Chairman of the Ghoton Committee of Tezu and Miao, Kunga Jigmey, Tibetan Settlement Officer, Tezu. In his address, he highlighted that the exhibition-cum-cultural programme was conducted as part of the year-long celebration of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday Anniversary, globally observed as the “Year of Compassion.”
During the cultural programme, performers from both Miao and Tezu showcased the rich Tibetan cultural heritage with great enthusiasm. Cultural dances from all three traditional provinces of Tibet were presented, and the traditional Tibetan Lion Dance was a highlight of the programme.
As His Holiness has always emphasised communal and religious harmony, the event was a great success with the participation and representation of diverse communities. We were honoured to have cultural performances from the Mishmi Tribe of Tezu, the Singpho community of Namsai, and the Tai Khamti Cultural Group of Namsai.
The programme was followed by words of wisdom from the Hon’ble Chief Guest, Chau Zingnu Namchoom, who stated: “Today, as we gather here with deep joy and reverence to celebrate this historic and spiritual milestone achieved by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, we honour a global icon of peace, compassion, and wisdom.” He emphasised His Holiness’ four commitments and his nine-decade legacy dedicated to world peace and the preservation of Tibetan religion and traditional Tibetan culture. He also thanked the organising committee for successfully conducting this grand event in Namsai. Furthermore, he expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Pema Khandu, the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Chowna Mein, and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh for their continuous support to the Tibetan community and other communities residing in the state.
