Dharamshala: Six women Nobel
Peace Laureates on 20 March 2008 wrote an open letter to Hu Jintao,
President of People’s Republic of China,to exercise restraint in
dealing with the protest in Tibet.
They called on the Chinese government to engage in a meaningful
dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama to resolve the issue of
Tibet.
“The Chinese government should allow entry of fact-finding
delegations to enable a thorough investigation and to allow the foreign
journalist to China,” they added.
They further said that the Chinese government should act
responsibly, and show accountability and transparency in its treatment
of the Tibetan people.
