Women Empowerment Desk leads efforts in Prevention of Sexual and Gender Based Violence
Dharamshala: Women Empowerment Desk (WED) under SARD. Dept. Of Finance initiated a program on Prevention of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in the Tibetan community.
The program is focused on raising awareness and changing attitudes on the issue of the SGBV.
Through the program’s various activities, the WED aims to strengthen the community by putting a system in place to respond to these issues. The Women Empowerment Desk is also partnering with NGO CRS (Catholic Relief Service) based in Chennai on this program.
As part of the program, the Women Desk has organized two orientation workshops on PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, 2012 to the teaching staff (junior and senior section) at TCV Suja on 14-15 March 2019.
It also carried out a Safety Audit at the school with the students to identify the gaps in regards to the safety and security at the school as felt and understood by the students.
The program is funded under the PRM.
