Delhi: Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok was awarded the prestigious ‘Dr. Shyamaprasad Mookerjee National Excellency Award for Outstanding Public Leadership’ by Chanakya Foundation, a non-governmental organisation in Delhi this Thursday. The ceremony took place at the Constitutional Club of India of New Delhi.
Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok was honoured for his outstanding contribution towards strengthening the Tibetan community, promoting human rights and justice and his leadership in the Tibetan cause.
The Deputy Speaker, in his acceptance, speech expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Chanakya Foundation for the honour and the recognition of his services.
The event was attended by Shri. Rameshwar Teli Ji, Honourable Minister of State Food Processing, Industries, Govt of India, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, Former BJP President, Shri. Indresh Kumar Ji, Chief RSS Muslim Manch, Shri. Manoj Tewari Ji, Member of Lok Sabha, Prof. Kiran Hazarika, Member UGC, MHRD, Govt of India and Acharya Gujja Gopal Reddy, Member UGC, MHRD, Govt. of India. Intellectuals and artists from different fields were also present there.
Led by the Samyeling Tibetan Settlement Officer, the Tibetan people residing in Delhi attended in large numbers to congratulate the Deputy Speaker.
