Dharamshala: A total of 6 bipartisan members of U.S Congressional delegation of House of Democracy Partnership will be visiting Dharamshala on 2 August. The members include representatives of US Congressional from the House of Democracy Partnership led by Chair Congressman David Price and Vice-chair Congressman Vern Buchanan. The delegation will be accompanied b staffers, military escorts, and the staff of the embassy.
The delegation will first visit Norbulingka Institute where they will be received by Mr. Dechen Namgyal Maja, Director of the institute.
On the 3rd of August, the delegation will pay a visit to the Kashag Secretariat and the offices of Central Tibetan Administration. There will be a brief meeting between the delegation and the CTA President Dr. Lobsang Sangay including a meeting with the Cabinet members at the Kashag Secretariat. Thereafter, the delegation is scheduled to meet with His Holiness the Dalai Lama at his residence, also a luncheon with His Holiness is scheduled and then they will be touring around the Tsuglakhang (main temple).
Later in the afternoon, the delegation will have a meeting with Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Mr. Pema Jungney, Deputy Speaker Ven Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, and the members of the Standing Committee of TPIE.
Around evening, there will be an interactive meeting of the Congressional delegation with the officials of CTA at T-building, CTA followed by cultural performances presented by the artists of TIPA.
The delegation is then scheduled for departure on the early morning of 4 August.
This will be second of such significant high-level visit of U.S Congressional delegation to Dharmashala, the earlier being the memorable visit of U.S Congressional delegation led by former U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi who is now the Speaker of the U.S House of Representatives.
The delegation will be accompanied by Representative Ngodup Tsering throughout the visitation.
