Dharamshala: As per the scheduled visit, a six-member U.S Bipartisan Congressional delegation of the House of Democracy Partnership led by Congressman David Price, Chair of House Democracy Partnership and Co-chair Vern Buchanan have reached Dharamshala today at around 3:45 pm.
The delegation is accompanied by staffers and members of the embassy and they will be engaged for two days in Dharmashala. They will be visiting Kashag Secretariat for a brief meeting with President Dr. Lobsang Sangay and the cabinet members. Then, the delegation will leave for Tsuglagkhang and meet with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. They are also scheduled to have a luncheon with His Holiness. Later in the day, they will meet with Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile and then in the evening, they will interact with the officials of CTA at T-building, CTA.
As for the purpose of the visit, Congressman Neal Dunn, U.S representative for Florida’s 2nd congressional district said, “Our purpose of the visit is to get familiar with the Central Tibetan Administration and to see what we can do to help”. Meanwhile he also conveyed the love that Americans have for the Tibetan people.
Explaining the visit of the high-level U.S Congressional delegation, Mr. Sonam Norbu Dagpo, Secretary of the Department of Information and International Relations explained that delegation consists of 6 members U.S bipartisan delegation of the House of Democracy Partnership led by the Chair Congressman David Price and Co-chair Vern Buchanan. Mr. Dagpo also informed that the Congressional delegation is accompanied by the staffers, military escorts and staff of the embassy constituting comprising about 32 guests in total.
