TYC’s 12th General Body Meeting Opens Today
Dharamsala 3 September: The Tibetan Youth Congress, one of the oldest and largest non-governmental organisations of the exile Tibetan community, began a five day general body meeting at the Auditorium of the lower TCV school this morning.
Presiding over the inaugural function as the chief guest was Kirti Rinpoche. Also present at the function were some members of the Assembly of the Tibetan People’s Deputies, representatives of the various institutes, schools and non-governmental organsitions, and members from more than 50 regional chapters of the Tibetan Youth Congress in India, Nepal and Bhutan.
Speaking at the occasion, Kirti Rinpoche said that it was important for the youths in exile to build a link with the youths in Tibet and exchange views and opinions on Tibet’s future.
“Whether it is independence or genuine autonomy, it is the youths inside Tibet who needs to be motivated”.
This gathering marks the twelveth general body meeting of the organisation which carries out various political activities all over the world.
The members attending the meeting will also elect new executive members of the centrex organisation based here.
Later in the day, the participants to this meeting will have an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama who had just returned from the quadricentennial celebrations of the installation of Guru Granth Sahib in Amritsar.
