Brussels, 30 January: The exhibition dedicated to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, realised through a collaboration between the Office of Tibet Brussels and the House of Compassion in Brussels, initially planned from 24 November to 24 December, was extended until 30 January due to strong public interest. It has now moved on to a new location.
During its time in the House of Compassion, the exhibition drew visitors from a wide range of backgrounds, offering insights into the life, values, and his universal message of compassion, peace and non-violence. Through a series of photographs, texts, and curated displays, the exhibition retraces the major stages of his life: from his childhood in Tibet to his exile in India, from his struggle for human dignity to becoming an emblematic figure of wisdom on the world stage.
The House of Compassion served as the exhibition’s host venue, providing a setting aligned with the exhibition’s focus on ethical reflection and intercultural understanding. Organisers noted steady public interest throughout the exhibition period, with attendees including local residents, students, international visitors, and representatives of faith-based and civil society organisations.
With the closing in Brussels, the exhibition continues its journey as a travelling project. It has been transferred to another venue, where it is expected to engage new audiences and extend its reach beyond the Belgian capital.
During the more than two months that the exhibition was on display, the Tibetan national flag, banned in Tibet, was hoisted on the facade of the House of Compassion in solidarity with the Tibetan people. At the closing, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Rigzin Genkhang, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the House of Compassion for hosting the meaningful exhibition. She was then invited to a discussion by the board, where she gave a comprehensive introduction to Tibet and the work of the office, and, in keeping with tradition, presented a traditional Tibetan scarf as a token of appreciation.
