Dehradun, 11 January 2021: Tibetan Settlement office, Dehradun in collaboration with Doon Tibetan Community begin the 2nd phase of Mobile Tibet Museum as a part of the yearlong celebration of “Gratitude Year to His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Indo Tibet Border Police (ITBP), Head Quarter, Northern Frontier, Dehradun. The Mobile Tibet Museum is set on the theme of the biography of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and India & Tibet: Ancient Ties and Current Bond.
The museum was inaugurated by Shri K.P. Singh, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at 10: 30 AM at Rainbow auditorium, ITBP. The Tibet Museum was attended by 5 Deputy Inspector Generals (DIG), 5 Commandants (CO), 25 Officers, 50 Junior Commission Officers (JCO), 130 Jawans and 130 Officers’children.
The Museum began with Lt Col Norbu, TSO Dehradun briefly introducing Central Tibetan Administration’s yearlong celebration of Gratitude Year 2020-21 and the four commitments of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Taking this golden opportunity, he briefly spoke on the history of Tibet and its geopolitical significance to India. Later, Secretary, TSO Dehradun introduced a brief biography of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Shri K.P. Singh, DIG presented a memento to the Settlement Officer and shared his appreciation for organising the mobile Tibet Museum. In his speech, he said that His Holiness the Dalai Lama is not only a global ambassador of peace but a global strength for non-violence as well. He also added such initiatives are highly beneficial to ITBP, Para Military Force Officers, since their job deals with Indo-Tibet border.
The mission of the Tibetan Settlement Office, Dehradun for organising a mobile Tibetan Museum is to create awareness among high-ranking Indian officials and the younger generations in general to the Tibet issue, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his four commitments. All attendees have a positive response.
Mobile Tibet Museum will be organised next at ITBP Academy, Mussorie, Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy, Mussorie and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in the following months.
The third leg of Mobile Tibet Museum will be organised in Indian Colleges, Institutions and Higher Secondary Schools similarly.
