His Holiness the Dalai Lama held a live teleconference with a group at the International Convention Centre in Sydney, Australia from his residence in India on Monday and this past week, what trended the most on social media is His Holiness’ remarks on his health.
Australian journalist, Natasha Mitchell, who moderated the teleconference, in closing remarks, asked about his health. His Holiness replied, “My physical health, now 83 years and since I am ok, I am looking forward to another 15, 20 years.” He said gleefully showing his perfect teeth.
“If you judge from my voice, it’s quite good. I often ask people, including Indian security persons in the morning when I meet them, what they think of my age. They make a guess around 70. Then I tell them that I am in the 80s… They say I look very young,” His Holiness elaborated prompting an instant round of applause from the audience.
The remark by His Holiness on his health was well received in the social media space with posts of the video, images and news reports found on various platforms.
For Tibetans and well-wishers of His Holiness, this came as a joyous news and quashed all doubts of his failing health that was earlier reported in a few of mainstream Indian media.
The netizens welcomed this piece of good news coming as it did from His Holiness’ own voice and quite as expected, it soon trended almost in a viral fashion across many social media platforms.
