India’s fourth highest civilian award was conferred on him in the field of medicine on 26 January 2018. He is well-known all over the world especially in India for his expertise in Tibetan medicine practice. Over 20 years he has been a personal physician of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The 90-year old was the first director of Men-Tsee-Khang which was established at Chopra house in Dharamshala in 1961. Nonagenarian treats patients from nook and corner of India at his clinic in Mcleod Ganj. He is revered for curing cancer.
