AN IMPORTANT APPEAL
Devastating
floods triggered by heavy rains in Drugchu region in Tibet’s Amdo
Province at around 10 PM on 7 August 2010 have caused heavy loss of
life, with many more people still missing. Even their homes and
agricultural lands have suffered severe damage. It is, therefore, the
moral responsibility of all the individual Tibetans and organisations
in the free world to show solidarity by extending their best possible
help to those undergoing unimaginable sufferings. Earlier,
when Tibet was affected by natural disaster, individual Tibetans and
organisations extended their assistance through different channels. It
was also for the first time that the Tibetan people in exile organised
a collective relief programmes during the earthquake tragedy in Kyegudo
in Tibet. Today, as the Central Executive Committee of Dhomay
in Dharamsala informed the Kashag about their plans to organise relief
programmes for flood victims in Drugchu, we hope that collective
efforts of Tibetans in exile will be of utmost importance for the
temporary and long-term well-being of Tibetans both in and outside
Tibet. Therefore, we appeal to all the Tibetan Monasteries,
Co-operative Societies, Charitable Trusts, Private organisations and
individuals across the world to give monetary and material
contributions through the Central Executive Committee of Dhomay. (Ph:
