TPPRC Holds Series of Workshops
Dharamsala 22 September: The Delhi based Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research centre has organised a series of workshop here at the premises of the Central Tibetan Administration.
A three-day workshop on autonomy which began on Sunday at the CTA staff mess has concluded yesterday. The workshop was attended by members of the Assembly of the Tibetan People’s Deputies (ATPD), senior officials of the Central Tibetan Administration, representatives of the various non-governmental organisations, schools and institutes. Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, the Kalon Tripa, and Ms. Gyari Dolma, the Vice-Chairperson of the ATPD spoke on the first day. The participants were briefed about the leadership in Beijing. Prof. Yash Ghai, a professor at Hongkong University, and an expert on the subject, spoke on the concepts of autonomy with reference to China’s regional ethnic autonomy and its implementation on Hongkong.
Prof. Ghai will speak to the entire staff of the CTA this evening.
A second workshop will begin this evening. The workshop entitled ‘Political and Economic Freedom and Their Relevance to Development’, will be held at the Lhakpa Tsering Memorial Hall of the Central Tibetan Administration. The workshop will end on the 25 September.
A third workshop, which will be for three days, begins on 26 September. The workshop entitled ‘Communication and Facilitation Skills – A practical Introduction’ is expected to enhance the communication and presentation skills of the participants.
