TIBETANS RALLY TO SUPPORT THEIR HOST NATION
FEBRUARY O1, 2001: For the emergency assistance to the people affected by the tragic earthquake that hit the northwestern part of India, the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) today (01.02.2001), donated a sum of Rs.300,000 to the Prime Minister Relief Fund.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened” at the tragedy that has struck India “which has been the second home for Tibetan refugees for over 41 years,” wrote the Chairman of the Kashag (the Cabinet)in the letter submitted to the Prime Minister of India with the cheque through New Delhi-based Office of Tibet. In addition to this, the Tibetan Youth Congress, the Tibetan Women’s Association and the Tibetan Welfare Office (Dharamsala) has collected warm clothes for the quake victims, and organised a blood donation camp in Dharamsala. The Kashag also sent a notice to the Tibetan communities across the globe to contribute voluntarily and generously to lend a helping hand to our host nation.
Tomorrow (02.02.2001) at 0800 hrs, a special prayer offering will be held at the Tsuglag Khang near His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s residence to pray for the departed souls.
