Tibetan Parliamentarians thanked the Indian government for helping them protect their cultural identity.
Dharamsala, Feb 7 (PTI): Tibetan Parliamentarians today praised India for helping them in protecting their culture and hoped solution of Tibet lay with India.
“We highly acknowledge the timely help and motherly care of Indian Government and people. It is because of that we are able to keep our culture and identity intact which is not possible in Tibet,” said Dawa Tsering.
Dawa, MP of Tibetan assembly and Chairman of representative committee of Tibetan parliament in exile, was briefing the press here today.
“All hopes are on the Indian Government and the people of this country for the solution of Tibet,” Dawa said.
“Since 2009, 99 Tibetans have taken the extreme step to immolate themselves to support the return of Dalai lama and restoration of freedom in Tibet. 80 of them lost their lives and rest of them are in Chinese jails” he said.
He said Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration never encouraged such actions, but can’t control these activities from outside the Tibet.
Dawa said that three groups of the Tibetan parliamentarians were formed to gather the support of Indians in their campaign for solidarity with Tibet.
He said that almost all the Chief ministers they met supported the autonomy for Tibet on the lines of Hong Kong and Macao.
“Tibetan government believes in talks and ready for Dharamsala Beijing talks on Tibet anytime, anywhere, but there is no official link with China since 2009, though indirect communication is still on,” he added.
The other Tibetan MPs present in the press meet were Kalsang Damdul, Mogru Tenpa and Mrs Gang Lhamo.
