As the Tibetan people and the Central Tibetan Administration jointly
offered long life prayers to His Holiness on the eve of the landmark
golden jubilee celebration of Tibetan democracy, His Holiness
reaffirmed his firm commitment and determination to live long to serve
the well-being of the entire sentient being.His Eminence the
102nd Gaden Tripa Rinpoche recited the long life prayers, as the
speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile and Kalon Tripa presented
auspicious offerings (mendel tensum) entreating His Holiness to live
long for the sake of humanity and Tibet. In his brief address,
His Holiness the Dalai Lama called on the monastic community to carry
out proper study of Buddhist teachings, and uphold their ethical
behaviour. A large gathering of more than 25,000, including
Chinese followers and members of parliament from different countries,
attended the long life prayer ceremony at Sera Thekchen Choeling Sermey
Thosam Norgyeling Monastery.
