
PAONTA SAHIB: Tibetans in Paonta Cholsum Settlement, Paonta Sahib, held a function to celebrate the 56th anniversary of Tibetan Democracy Day on Friday, 2 September.
The chief guest at the function was Shri Kirnesh Jung, MLA, Paonta Sahib & the guest of honour was Shri Geeta Ram Thakur, Secretary of Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society and a long-time friend of Tibet.
The statement of the Kashag and the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile was read out at the function which was attended by students, local Tibetans, lay and monastic officials of Tibetan institutes and schools in and around the settlement.

56th Tibetan Democracy Day Celebration in Delhi
Majnukatilla, Delhi: Tibetan residents of Samyeling settlement in Majnukatilla, Delhi, gathered at the TCV day school to celebrate 56th anniversary of Tibetan Democracy Day on 2 September. The chief guest at the function was Mr Ngodup Dongchung, former Kalon and current Representative at the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi. Other guests include Mr Norbu Tsering, Director of Vigilance, North Delhi, MCD, Mr Piyush Amgrish, former judge of Children’s Court and Mr Rinchen Khando Khrimey, member of Core group for Tibet.
The function was attended by the local Tibetan public, the Tibetan settlement officer and representatives of Tibetan governmental and non-governmental organisations.
The chief guest read out the statement of the Kashag and the statement of the Tibetan Parliament was read by Ms Kunga Namdol, staff of the Tibetan settlement office. The thank you speech was delivered by Mr Karten Tsering, camp leader of the Tibetan community in Majnukatilla.
