TOKYO: The Tibetan community in Japan actively participated in the preliminary round of election for Sikyong and 17th Members of Parliament held at Tibet House in Tokyo on 3 January. The regional election commission put in place Covid-19 pandemic preventive measures at the polling station. The voting took place from 8 am to 6 pm.
Around 70 per cent of the registered voters came to cast their votes.
As per election regulation, the counting of the votes will take place on 5 January.
