Tibetans have dual reason to celebrate 10 December

Dharamshala: Yet another reason to celebrate the forthcoming 10 December is that His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be presented the White Lotus, the highest award in Russian republic of Kalmykia, which coincides with the 17th anniversary of awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Kalmyk President, Kirsan Illumjhinov is here in town and he will do the honour of presenting the award to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama was chosen for this award for his outstanding contribution to the spiritual revival and prosperity of the republic.
About 50-member delegation from the republic, including a group of officials, artists, and reporters, are expected to take part in the ceremony.
Following the official ceremony, a cultural programme of the 12th Himalayan Festival will be conducted at the Main Temple.
Kalon Tsering Phuntsok, Kalon for the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, will be the chief guest at the event.
The cultural programme of the 12th Himalayan Festival is organised by the Dharamshala-based Indo Tibetan Friendship Society.
