TIBETANS CELEBRATE HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA’S 66th BIRTHDAY
Dharamsala, 6 July 2001: Tibetan refugee community in Dharamsala celebrated the 66th birthday of his Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama with songs, dances and other cultural events.
The day started with sangsol or ritual purification ceremony which was attended by about a thousand tibetans and a sprinkling of western tourist.
The main event of the day was held at the main Temple in front of His Holiness’ residence. Tibetans representing various associations, provinces and school childrens from nearby Tibetan schools came and performed there.
