London, 10 March 2022: Tibetans and the Tibet supporters worldwide commemorate the 63rd Anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising day, The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Greenwich Councillor Denise Hyland, Deputy Leader Danny Thorpe and the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration, Sonam Tsering Frasi raised the Tibetan National flag at the Woolwich Town Hall, the headquarters of Royal Borough of Greenwich located in South East London.
The ceremony began with reciting prayers for the world peace and the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. They also sang the Tibetan National Anthem whilst the Mayor and the Representative hoisted the Tibet flag.
Representative Frasi of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Northern Europe, Baltic States & Poland thanked the Mayor and the Deputy leader for always supporting and standing in solidarity with the Tibetans to restore freedom inside Tibet.
The Mayor invited them all to the Mayor’s Parlour for a tea reception and assured them that the Royal Borough of Greenwich will continue to support for Tibetan people.
Tsering Passang, Founder and Chairman of the Global Alliance for Tibet & Persecuted Minorities and also the residents of the Greenwich borough thanked the Mayor and the deputy leader on behalf of Greenwich Tibetan Association for their continued support and solidarity for the Tibetans.
The annual flag raising ceremony held at the Woolwich town hall was attended by local Tibetan community in Greenwich Borough which is home to over 100 Tibetan residents.
The Office of Tibet, London thanked Tsering Passang la for coordinating the event on behalf of Greenwich Tibetan Association.
