Tibetan youth gears up for future responsibilities

Dharamshala: From across the length of India, some 65 Tibetan college students have gathered here at the hall Gangkyi staff mess to learn about the democratic Tibetan polity in exile, at a week-long youth leadership workshop beginning this morning.
The workshop is an initiative of the New Delhi-based Tibetan Parliamentary and Polity Research Center, which aims to groom Tibetan youth for their future responsibilities through interactive panel discussions.
In his opening speech, the director of the Centre, Penpa Tsering, briefed the students on the administrative set-up and functions of the various organs of the Central Tibetan Administration.

In her address, Deputy Speaker Dolma Gyari said that the Tibetan youth must assume its responsibility for the fulfillment of the political and religious cause of Tibet.
The young Tibetans must develop their competency to meet the challenges dotting the way to a peaceful resolution of the Tibet issue, Mrs Gyari added.
The panel of resource persons of the workshop Kalon Tripa Samdhong Rinpoche, Speaker Karma Chophel, Kalon Thubten Lungrig, Kalon Tempa Tsering, and various members of Tibetan parliament in Exile.
