Geneva: The Heads of the local Tibetan Weekend Schools under the Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein (TCSL) held their 5th general meeting on 18 September 2022. Representative Thinlay Chukki and Accountant Tenzin Choesang from Tibet Bureau Geneva as well as TCSL President Karma Choekyi and Vice- President Tenzin Wangdue attended the meeting.
Heads of 19 local Tibetan weekend schools out of 22 attended the general meeting convened by the Director of the Tibetan Weekend Schools Tsewang Munsel. During the meeting, the Director gave a brief overview of the schools and various programs carried out by the schools. The school heads also discussed about their achievements, challenges and future plans.
The President and Vice- President of the Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein also provided a brief overview of the rules and regulations governing the Tibetan Weekend Schools and encouraged everyone to abide by the same.
Representative Thinlay Chukki thanked the local school heads for their contributions towards preserving and promoting the Tibetan language and culture. Emphasising their critical contributions, Representative Thinlay noted, “through your service you are moulding the future generations of Tibetans and ensuring the survival of the Tibetan civilisation. At times you will face
many hurdles but please find strength in knowing that your service is your contribution to the larger Tibetan Movement and the future generations will be grateful for your service.”
On 17th September Representative Thinlay Chukki and Accountant Tenzin Choesang attended the Tibet Day Celebrations organised by the Landquart and Liechtenstein sections of Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The Children from the local Tibetan Weekend schools as well as the Cultural Dance groups of the sections presented dance, song, poem recitation and other cultural programs during the day. Following the cultural program, the Representative gave a brief talk and answered questions from general public.
