Tibetan Supreme Justice Commissioner Appoints New Secretary
Dharamsala 2 May 2005: Mr. Tsering Dorjee, a former secretary in the Central Tibetan Administration, has been appointed the secretary of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission. He was sworn in on 28 April 2005.
The Commission directly appointed Tsering Dorjee on a two-year contract after its secretary Pema Damdul took a two-year leave from office.
The Commission is authorised to directly appoint its secretary if the Public Service Commission does not delegate a civil servant for the post.
“Tsering Dorjee is one of our most senior civil servants with extensive knowledge and experience of the workings of the Central Tibetan Administration”, the Voice of Tibet quoted Chief-Justice Commissioner Namgyal Tsering as saying.
Tsering Dorjee has worked in various departments of the CTA in various capacities for about 33 years before resigning as the secretary for finance.
The Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission is the highest judicial organ of the CTA. The Commission adjudicates all civil disputes in Tibetan communities.
The Commission does not handle criminal cases or those on which its arbitration is deemed to be in contravention of the laws of the host countries.
