Tibetan Students Honoured For Excellence in Education on Democracy Day[Friday, 3 September 2010, 4:04 p.m.]
Dharamshala: The
Department of Education conferred its prestigious Gaden Phodrang Award
on three Tibetan students who topped among the Tibetan schools in this
year’s All India Class XII board examination.Mr Migyur Dorjee,
secretary of the Kashag Secretariat, was the chief guest who presented
the awards during 50th anniversary of the Tibetan democracy day in
Dharamsala on 2 September.Tenzin Lobsang of upper TCV School
obtained first position in science with 89.4%. He has decided to pursue
further studies in engineering college in Israel. Pema Dolkar of Gopalpur TCV scored 89.6% in Arts and has already joined Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi. Tenzin
Choedon from SOS TCV School at Bylakuppe achieved 90.6% in commerce and
is studying at St. Joseph’s Commerce College in Bangalore.Thousands of Tibetans joined to celebrate the landmark occasion of the golden jubilee of Tibetan democracy. The
programme was attended by secretaries of various departments, official
staff of the Central Tibetan Administration and local settlement
representatives, among others.
