Tibetan Shines in American High School
Dharamshala 21 April 2005: The Principal of Cottage Grove, a high school in Oregon, US, has written to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration praising its only Tibetan student Tenzin Nyandak.
Donn R. Pollard has written that Tenzin is loved and respected by everyone in the school for his excellence in studies, sports and discipline. He was also chosen the Homecoming king of the school, a local custom at the Cottage Grove.
Donn R. Pollard has also written that Tenzin was interviewed by the local media several times and awarded two recognitions.
The Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Department of Education have sent letters of appreciation to Tenzin and Donn R. Pollard. His Holiness had expressed a great pleasure reading about Tenzin and said that it is a matter of pride for all the Tibetans.
The Department of Education had lauded Tenzin for his achievement and said that it is a good news for the Tibetan administration and all the Tibetans.
“I only wish we had more students like Tenzin”, Pollard wrote.
