The Tibet Fund and the CTA Department of Home invite project proposals from overseas settlement support organisations to participate in the Tibetan Settlement Matching Grants Programme . Matching grants aim to encourage overseas Tibetans to raise funds for community-identified needs in their home settlements.
Established in 2021, the Tibetan Settlement Matching Grants Programme aims to strengthen the sustainability and cohesion of Tibetan settlements by encouraging overseas Tibetans to raise funds for community-identified needs in their home settlements in India and Nepal.
How the Matching Grant Programme Works:
- TTF and DoHo will each provide matching grants of up to USD 10,000 for projects that support the goal of strengthening Tibetan settlements in India and Nepal. Example: For a project with a total budget of USD 30,000, if an Overseas Shichak Support Organization (OSSO) raises USD 10,000, TTF will contribute USD 10,000 and DoHo will contribute an additional USD 10,000.
- Selected OSSOs will have a four-month fundraising period, from December 1 to March 15.
- The OSSO must submit a letter from the Settlement Officer confirming the amount raised for the designated settlement.
- TTF will disburse the total grant amount to DoHo, which will in turn release both TTF’s and DoHo’s contributions through the Settlement Offices.
Eligibility:
- Applicant: Any overseas association or organisation (legal registration not required) raising funds for projects in their respective settlements.
- Project: Any settlement-based project identified by community members that contributes to settlement sustainability and vitality and community cohesion.
- Priority: First-time OSSO applicants, identified settlements under CTA’s Bringing Back Compact Community (BBCC), and remote or underserved settlements.
- Community Engagement: Proposals demonstrating the use of community participatory tools to identify and prioritize needs will receive preference.
Ineligibility:
- Scholarships, stipends, and recurring salaries; public events; office renovation; and equipment purchase.
- Settlement camps that received matching grants in 2025 will be ineligible.
