
BANGALORE: A delegation of representatives of the five Tibetan settlements in Karnataka state led by the Chief Representative, South Zone, Mr Karma Singey, yesterday paid a courtesy visit to new Chief Secretary Mr Kaushik Mukherjee at his office in Vidhana Soudha (State Legislative Assembly) in Bangalore.
On behalf of Tibetans living in Karnataka, the delegation congratulated Mr Kaushik Mukherjee by presenting him with traditional Tibetan ceremonial scarves and a thangka painting.
The delegation expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the people and Government of Karnataka for the overwhelming kindness and hospitality and the immense humanitarian support offered to the Tibetans living in Karnataka state for the last half a century. They further said that generations of Tibetans would remain grateful to people and Government of Karnataka for their generosity and assistance.
The delegation also met Mr SK Pattanayak, the additional chief secretary of the state’s home department.
It may be recalled that the predecessor chief secretary, Mr SV Ranganath, had held a meetings last year under his chairmanship to address the various problems being faced by the Tibetans living in Karnataka. During his tenure many basic amenities like drinking water, road renovation, better electricity supply were provided for the Tibetan settlements.
