
Brisbane: As per the program of 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile to visit and meet the Parliament members, Tibet support groups, think tanks and officials all over the world as well as to garner more support for the cause of Tibet, a delegation representing the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile met Senator Larissa Waters (Greens), Jonathan Sri (Councillor for the Gabba), and H. Carter, advisor to Senator Malcolm Roberts in Brisbane on 8 November 2019.
The Tibetan parliamentary delegation, including Parliamentarians Juchen Konchok Choedon, Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tsetan, Khenpo Jamphel Tenzin, and Ngawang Tharpa, met Senator Larissa Waters, a member of the Australian Greens and apprised them the destruction of Tibetan religion, culture, and language under the current repressive policy of the Communist Party of China towards Tibet.
They also apprised the absence of basic human rights like freedom of speech and other current critical matters like environmental destruction of Tibet, forceful resettlement of nomads in urban areas, etc.
The Tibetan Parliamentary delegation addressed the questions from the Senator and presented publications of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile on Tibet related issues, to which Senator Larissa Waters promised to raise Tibet issue in the Australian Parliament.
Thereafter, the Tibetan parliamentary delegation met Jonathan Sri, a Queensland Greens councilor for the Brisbane City Council representing the Gabba Ward and H. Carter, advisor to Senator Malcolm Roberts.
They presented publications of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile on Tibet related issues to which Councillor Jonathan Sri and advisor H. Carter assured their full support on Tibetan cause.
Following that, Parliamentarians held public meetings with the Tibetans living in Brisbane and Melbourne on 8th and 9th November respectively. During the Public addresses, Parliamentarian Juchen Konchok Choedon spoke on the evolution of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and Parliamentarian Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tseten spoke on Middle Way Policy. While Parliamentarian Khenpo Jamphel Tenzin talked on accomplishments of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and Parliamentarian Ngawang Tharpa spoke on the current critical situation of Tibet.
They listened to the suggestions and answered questions asked by the general public.
