Dharamshala: The
deputy speaker and standing committee members of the Tibetan
Parliament-in-Exile extended a warm reception to Mr Tulsi Ram, speaker
of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) during his
unofficial visit to the Tibetan parliament house yesterday.Thanking
the members of Tibetan Parliament for the warm reception, Mr Tulsi Ram
said it was first visit to the Tibetan Parliament even though he had
visited Dharamshala on several occasion.During a brief
conversation with Mr Tulsi Ram at a tea reception, Deputy Speaker Dolma
Gyari appealed to the state speaker to revive and strengthen the
Himachal Pradesh Legislative Forum for Tibet, constituted by the state
legislative assembly on 28 August 2006. The forum aims to make
efforts to maintain cordial relations with China and help Tibet to
achieve their objective with democratic approach and non-violent
methods.

Later speaking to media, Tulsi Ram condemned the illegal oppression of Tibet by the People’s Republic of China.China’s suppression of a peaceful and weaker nation like Tibet is totally unacceptable, the speaker said.He expressed his optimism that the government of India will continue to extend its necessary support to the Tibetan people.Deputy Speaker Dolma Gyari lauded Tulsi Ram as a steadfast supporter of Tibet.The
deputy speaker said since the Central Tibetan Administration is based
in Himachal Pradesh, the Tibetans have developed a special relationship
with the Indian people.The Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile presented souvenirs to the speaker and his wife.
