
SHIMLA: Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Khenpo Sonam Tenphel along with Member of Tibetan Parliament, Kelsang Gyaltsen and Shimla Settlement officer, Tsering Tashi expressed their greetings to Mr Raja Virbhadra Singh on his 78th birthday and 50th anniversary of political leadership.
Mr Raja Virbhadra Singh is the union minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and a former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. He is a staunch supporter of the Tibetan cause.
Visting Mr Singh at his residence, Khenpo Sonam Tenphel expressed his heartfelt wishes on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and presented him a statue of Tsepak-mey, which signifies long life and prosperity and a shawl to his wife.
The deputy speaker thanked Mr Singh for his tireless support towards the Tibetan cause and briefed him on the situation inside Tibet especially on the wave of self-immolations taking place against the Chinese government.
Mr Virbhadra Singh, on his part, promised to keep on supporting the Tibetan people and their struggle for a homeland.
