
South Tyrol, 5 December: Fours Kalon of the Central Tibetan Administration today met with President Luis Durnwalder of South Tyrol and President Ugo Rossi of Trento at the end of their stay in South Tyrol.
The senior Tibetan officials also met with President Dr. Martha Stocker of the Provincial Council of South Tyrol and Mr. Bruno Doringatti, President of the Provincial Council of Trento.
Kalon Dicki Chhoyang travelled early this morning to Rome from South Tyrol to testify before the Italian Senate’s Extraordinary Commission for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights on the present situation in Tibet. This is the first time, a Tibetan official testified before the Italian Parliament.
During their visit to the autonomous provinces of South Tyrol and Trento in northern Italy, the European Academy organised meetings about the provinces’ legal autonomous status within the political structure of the Italian republic. Yesterday evening, Kalon Dolma Gyari and Kalon Dicki Chhoyang spoke at a public conference.
Tomorrow they will leave for Rome and early next week travel to Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands and Switzerland to join the respective Tibetan communities in the celebration of the 24th Anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
