Dharamshala: Swiftly after assuming the executive leadership, Sikyong Penpa Tsering has affirmed to reach out not just to the various sections of the exile polity but also to various NGOs, institutes and media so as to forge unity within the exile Tibetan community and build a collective focus towards a common goal. As such, this morning Sikyong officially visited the Tibetan Medical and Astro Institute( TMAI), Men-Tsee-Khang where he was felicitated by the faculty members of the institute.
During his hour-long interaction, Sikyong extolled the rapid progress made by Men-Tsee-Khang over the years and encouraged that the institute plays a crucial role not just in providing physical and mental healthcare to public but empowering the youth by providing resources for education and through employment generation. The institute currently has over 855 students.
Stressing on the critical situation inside Tibet, Sikyong established that a larger part of efforts and resources should now be employed to materialise the Sino-Tibetan dialogue as a way to resolve the long-standing Tibet’s issue while further declaring his commitment to finding a lasting solution for the Sino-Tibet conflict in addition to looking after the welfare of the Tibetan people.
“Individual efforts need to be synergized to help sustain the Tibetan struggle against China” Sikyong concluded adding that the 16th Kashag under his administration will be committed to resolving the Sino-Tibet conflict in compliance with the Middle Way Approach espoused by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The event was attended by Director of TMAI Tashi Tsering Phuri led the section heads and staff of various departments of the Institute.
