DHARAMSHALA: Kelsang, a Tibetan college girl, has bagged gold medal for her stellar performance in her B.Com examinations. The gold medal was awarded to her during her college’s annual convocation ceremony in March 2014.

“Kelsang secured 1st in the last three years of her academic career at Maris Stella Autonomous College in Vijayawada with an aggregate of over 80%,” said Mr. Dhondup, the administrator of Tibetan Youth Hostel in Bangalore.

“I hope her achievement will inspire other Tibetan students to  pursue excellence in their studies as well and boost the over all standard of education of the Tibetan community. Her achievement is also in tune with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration’s vision for Tibetan students to specialise in diverse academic fields,” he added.

Kelsang is currently pursuing her Masters in Commerce degree at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.

She is an alumnus of TCV Gopalpur and TCV Bylakuppe. She was born to a humble nomadic family in Tibet and came to India in 1998 as a refugee.
