LONDON: Mr Chonpel Tsering, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama raised the Tibetan national flag in front of the guildhall in Northampton, United Kingdom yesterday. Mayor John Caswell and Mayoress Cheryl Caswell joined him for the annual event – now in its 17th year in the town.
Over 150 people turned up to watch flag raising event.
The event started with the screening of a four-minute documentary film on the Tibetan movement to highlight the Tibet issue. The musical theme chosen for the event was ‘No Matter What’ by Boyzone, which includes the lyrics ‘and I will keep you safe and strong, sheltered from the storm’.
The event is organised by Ms Caroline Scattergood, a staunch Tibet supporter who have organised the event every year.
The hour-long event concluded with the Tibetan flag raising ceremony outside the hall at 1.30pm after the screening of the documentary film.
