Dharamshala: The Tibetan Children’s Village, Dharamshala commemorated its 63rd founding anniversary today.
Following TCV President Sonam Sichoe’s deliverance of welcome address and presentation of school report, officiating Sikyong Kalon Dolma Gyari delivered CTA’s congratulations to the school fraternity on the milestones.
Officiating Sikyong lauded the school’s administration and the faculty for making strides in delivering holistic education and nurturing the lives of many.
“As the school marks the 63rd founding anniversary of the school, despite the exile circumstance, these schools have been central to the preservation of Tibetan language, religion, and culture”. Kalon further expressed gratitude to the eldest sister of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama Tsering Dolma(now deceased), and younger sister Kasur Jetsun Pema-led teachers, and former staff for their significant contributions.
Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel and Kyabje Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche delivered their respective addresses. It was followed by the presentation of certificates by Kyabje Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche to TCV staff who have completed 20 years of service including students for academic excellence by the officiating Sikyong Kalon Dolma Gyari.
The students presented cultural and calisthenics performance to the entertainment of the gathering.
The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Tsultrim Dorjee, the Director of Upper TCV School
Kyabje Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche presided as the chief guest along with special guest, Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Tibetan Parliament in Exile; officiating Sikyong Kalon Dolma Gyari, Department of Security; Justice Commissioner Tenzin Lungtok, Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission; Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, Tibetan Parliament in Exile; Election & Public Service Commissioner Wangdue Tsering Persur; Standing Committee Members of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile; secretaries of the various departments of the Tibetan administration; representatives of the government and NGOs based in Dharamsala; sponsors and guests; staff and students from TCV branch schools; and the general public attended the commemoration.
