Tibetan Administration thanked US Congress for the Congressional Gold Medal

Dharamshala: On behalf of the Kashag of the Central Tibetan Administration, Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, thanked the US Congress for passing the bill to award His Holiness the Dalai Lama the Congressional Gold Medal, the most distinguished award bestowed by the US Congress.
In a letter addressed to Mr. Ted Stevens, President of Pro Tempore, Senate, and Mr. Dennis Hastert, Speaker of the US House of Representative, Kalon Tripa said “The US Congress’ recognition of the tireless efforts of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to resolve the issue of Tibet within the constitutional framework of the People’s Republic of China and his wider efforts to promote peace, dialogue, non-violence and environmental protection will come as a huge encouragement to the Tibetan people whose devotion to him is total and unbreakable.”
Kalon Tripa also expressed his appreciation to the US Congress for its advocacy of human rights situation in Tibet and its financial support and for the opportunity given to the Tibetan students to study in America.
Kalon Tripa mentioned that he is appreciative of all the support from members of both the Senate and House. “The solid support for the efforts of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the US Congress will never be forgotten by the Tibetan people”, he said.
