
MANDI: The second general meeting of Indian Tibet Support Groups (ITSG) of Mandi and Rewalsar was convened on 16 May in the presence of Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, member of Tibetan Parliament. The Mandi Rewalsar chapter of the Indian Tibet Support Group was established in the year 2014.
The general meeting was held at Rewalsar and was attended by Mr. Bhansi Lal Thakur, President of Rewalsar ITSG and other active members. On 18th of May meeting was held at Mandi with the present of Mrs. Sushila Sonkhla Presindet of Mandi ITSG and other active members.
Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok inaugurated both the meetings with Mr. Tenzin Lekshey, Mandi Settlement Officer and Tibetan Coordinator of the Mandi & Rewalsar ITSG.
Thirty-nine members from Rewalsar and 11 members from Mandi participated in this session. All the members from local people have shown tremendous enthusiasm to enhance relation between them and the Tibetan residing in Rewalsar and Mandi.
The resolutions passed in the meetings include commemoration of Tibetan National Uprising Day & Women’s Uprising Day widely around Mandi & Rewalsar with local people, celebration of His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama birthday on 6 July, 2015 to mark 80th birthday.
The members of Rewalsar Tibet Support Group have assured their commitment to preserve the holy lake of Tsopema.
These two support groups have also helped apprise the local MP , SP and ASP of Mandi regarding the problems faced by Tibetans in the area.
