Tibet supporter from France visits Dharamsala

At the invitation of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Mr Joseph De
Macedo of the Amnesty International (AI) in France paid an unofficial
visit to the Tibetan community in Dharamsala from 13 – 18 June.

Mr
Joseph, who worked in AI’s China Division, met with newly arrived
Tibetan refugees at the Tibetan Reception Center and visited the
Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute.

He had meetings with deputy speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Mrs Dolma Gyari and its Standing Committee members.
He
discussed Tibet’s human rights issues during his meetings with heads of
the Tibetan Center for Human Rights and Democracy and the UN and human
rights desk of the Department of Information and International
Relations (DIIR). He also visited DIIR’s Environment and Development
Desk.

met with representatives of various Tibetan NGOs and visited the
Library of Tibetan Works and Archives. He also spoke to some Tibetan
former political prisoners like Ama Adhe and Palden Gyatso.

Joseph joined the local Indians and Tibetans in celebrating the 50
years of growing and living together in peace and harmony in the
presence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
