Addressing the topic of the seminar, he said that China was never a neighbor to India. India and China came to closed border when the latter illegally occupied Tibet in 1959. Even according to Chinese National Security Advisor, Tibet is not a part of China because it comes outside the Great Wall of China.
Not only did China invade Tibet in 1959, it attacked India in 1962, just after the completion of the famous Panchsheel agreement which was signed between India and China in 1954, whereby claiming some parts of Indian Himalayan belts as their territory. China has constructed roads and railways in those regions of Tibet which connects to Indian border and Kailash Mansarovar. In fact they have this imperialist idea of expansionism which is threatening to India’s national security. In the coming days of Honorable Prime Minister of India visit to China, “India should say Tibet is not an integral part of China”. Therefore raising genuine concern on Tibet issue is of India’s own interest. In Tibet, since 2009, more than 130 Tibetans brothers and sisters self immolated for the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and religious and culture freedom in Tibet.
He recounted an audience that he had with His Holiness the Dalai Lama once where he asked whether Tibet will be free. His Holiness responded, if the leaders, experts, thinkers, politicians and people of this great nation made India a leading nation in Asia than Tibet will be free soon.
Dr. Kuldeep Agnihothri, Working President, BTSM in his speech said that, this Tibet Support Groups organization was established under the guidance of Shri Indresh Kumar ji in Dharamshala 15 years back. Under his leadership, the people of India and the policy makers have been made aware and enlighten on the Tibet issue. We all should support the Tibetan movement unitl it is resolved.
