
Free Tibet – A Voice from Assam observing the 63rd Tibetan National Uprising Day at Pragjyotish College in Guwahati, Assam.
Delhi: Tibetans and Tibet Supporters around the world commemorated the 63rd Anniversary of Tibetan National Uprising Day on 10th March, 2022 to remember and pay tribute to the Tibetan martyrs who, on this day in 1959, gathered in Tibet’s capital Lhasa to rise up against the Communist China’s illegal occupation of Tibet. In India, Tibet Support Groups commemorated the day with organising various activities and programs paying tribute to the Tibetan martyrs and protesting against the Communist Chinese Government.
In Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh, India Tibet Friendship Society (ITFS) observed the 63rd Tibetan National Uprising Day at Shagun Vatika, Chano Road, Hazaribagh with Former MP Shri Mahavir Lal Vishwakarma as Chief Guest and many Indian Tibet Supporters in attendance. The event was chaired by Shri Sudesh Kumar Chandravanshi, ITFS Hazaribagh President and Regional Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India, who briefed the gathering about the significance of the day and highlighted on the current situation of Tibet including severe human rights violations by the Chinese Government and self immolation carried out by Tibetans for the freedom and return of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to Tibet.
In Bihar’s Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Vaishali, Nawada and Sitamarhi; India Tibet Friendship Society observed the day with paying tribute to the Tibetan martyrs and organised a seminar on the freedom struggle of Tibet at the respective district chapters. ITFS Delhi in coordination with Loknayak Jayaprakash International Studies Development Centre organised a webinar on the topic “Tibbat ki Azadi aur Bharat ki Suraksha” in the evening.
India Tibet Friendship Society also commemorated the day at Mau, Uttar Pradesh; Bhandara, Maharashtra; Jodhpur, Rajasthan and Odisha. ITFS Bengaluru observed the day by participating in a program organised by Tibetan community and Tibet Supporters in Bengaluru.
Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch (BTSM) and its chapters across India observed the 63rd Tibetan National Uprising Day with protest and demonstration against the illegal occupation of Tibet by the Communist Chinese Government and paid tribute to the Tibetan martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for Tibet.
BTSM also released a video wherein their members appeal to the Government and people of India to boycott China at every aspect to secure its border and help gain freedom for Tibet.
In Assam, Free Tibet – A Voice from Assam observed the 63rd Tibetan Uprising Day with a lecture and interactive session on the importance of Tibetan freedom movement in collaboration with the Department of Political Science, Pragjyotish College in Guwahati. Shri. Soumyadeep Datta (Convener – Free Tibet, A Voice from Assam & Regional Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India) was the key speaker, whose thought provoking lecture brought a new awakening amongst the audience regarding the significance of Tibetan freedom movement for Assam as well as India. The lecture was attended by Dr. Jagadindra Raychoudhury (President – governing body of Pragjyotish College), Dr. Manoj Kr Mahanta (Principal, Pragjyotish College), Sri. Navadeep Das (Head of Political Science Department, Pragjyotish College), Dr. Monojit Kr Majumdar (Department of Geography), Dr. Sampa Choudhury (Vice Principal, Pragjyotish College), Smt. Arpita Das (Dept of Political Science).

Core Group Regional Convener Smt. Ruby Mukherjee led demonstration in Kolkata and ITFS jodhpur Smt Resham Bala led protest during the 63rd Tibetan National Uprising Day
In West Bengal’s capital Kolkata, Smt. Ruby Mukherjee, Regional Convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India joined by Tibet Supporters staged a demonstration in front of the Chinese Consulate against the illegal occupation of Tibet by the Communist China and demanding the stop to human rights violations in Tibet.
In Arunachal Pradesh led by Shri Lhundup Chosang, President of Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch – Tawang District, Tibet Support Groups comprising of Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch and India Tibet Friendship Society in association with Tawang Rangden Tsokchung, NGOs and Tibet Supporters organised a peace rally from Tawang Monastery to General Parade Ground raising slogans against the illegal occupation of Tibet by the Communist Chinese Government and at the same time, voicing in support for the freedom in Tibet.
In Himachal Pradesh, India Tibet Friendship Association (ITFA), Mandi President Shri Vishal Thakur and members observed the day by participating in a program organised by the Tibetan community in Mandi.
In Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry; Bharat Tibbat Samvad Manch observed the day paying tribute to the Tibetan martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Tibet. They condemned the illegal occupation of Tibet by the Communist China and called for the freedom of Tibet. On the occasion, they prayed for the long live of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, his ultimate return to Potala Palace in Lhasa and justice and victory for Tibet.
