New Delhi: His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 87th birth anniversary was celebrated across India by Tibet Support Groups (TSGs) on 6 July, 2022. The auspicious occasion was celebrated by the TSGs with organising various programs and activities in different parts of the country celebrating the life and messages of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and praying for his long and healthy life.
In Hazaribagh (Jharkhand), India Tibet Friendship Society (ITFS) celebrated the 87th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama with great pomp at Jain Bhawan, Bada Bazar, Hazaribagh led by ITFS Hazaribagh President Shri Sudesh Kumar Chandravanshi. The celebration was attended by former MP Mahavir Lal Vishwakarma, Hazaribagh Sadar MLA Manish Jaiswal, Registrar Vinoba Bhave, University Professor Bansidhar Rukhaiyar, Hazaribagh Municipal Corporation Mayor Roshni Tirkey, Dr. V K Singh, Dr. Lalita Rana, Professor Jatadhar Dubeyand joined by hundreds of people. In Muzaffarpur (Bihar), ITFS organised a discussion on the topic of challenges before His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at Lalit Narayan Mishra Business Management College, Muzaffarpur to mark the occasion. With detailed discussion, three resolutions were passed – First, wishing His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama a long life; Second, the demand to give His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to address the Parliament of India; and Third, to confer the Bharat Ratna on His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Educationist Krishnakant, District Public Prosecutor Pramod Shahi, Working President of Bihar Chapter of India Tibet FriendshipSociety Harendra Kumar, former National Secretary of Gandhi Peace Foundation Surendra Kumar and District President Dr. Vikas Narayan Upadhyay took prominent part in the program. India Tibet Friendship Society also celebrated the 87th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Sitamarhi (Bihar); Ahmedabad and Saurashtra (Gujarat), Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Bhandara (Maharashtra), Bengaluru and Mysore (Karnataka).
Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch (BTSM), on the eve of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 87th birthday, organised a Facebook Live Webinar celebrating the life and contributions of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Shri Indresh Kumar (Senior Leader, RSS and Patron, BTSM) was the chief speaker on the occasion whereas Kalon Gyari Dolma, Department of Security, CTA; Ven. Chandrakriti, HoD Buddhist Department, Subharti University; and Shri Pankaj Goyal, BTSM National General were the other distinguished speakers. The webinar was chaired by Shri Harjeet Singh Grewal, BTSM Working President. In Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), BTSM unit celebrated the 87th birthday of His Holiness 14th the Dalai Lama by offering jalabhishek. On the occasion, the entire unit wished for the long and healthy life of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. They also prayed for the liberation of Kailash Mansarovar and freedom of Tibet. In Kanpur, BTSM celebrated the 87th birth anniversary of the most revered religious teacher His Holiness the Dalai Lama ji with great pomp and joy at Om Guest House. The program was presided over by Provincial President Advocate Atul Nigam ji. In Delhi’s Keshav Puram, BTSM celebrated the birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. On the occasion, the members of Keshav Puram district laid wreaths in front of the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and lighting a country-made ghee lamp, prayed to God for good health and long life of the His Holiness the Dalai Lama. District President Shri Bhupendra Goyal Ji, District General Secretary Shri Manjit Ji and Vinay Gupta Ji, Vishwa Hindu Parishad District Co-Minister Shri Ashu Singhal Ji, State General Secretary of Women’s Department Shrimati Veena Gupta Ji, Shri Kailash Kan Ji, Veena Singhal Ji etc. workers were present. BTSM also celebrated the 87th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama ji in Maharashtra’s Devgiri Province, Awadh Province of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Jaipur (Rajasthan), Patna (Bihar), Raipur (Chattisgarh), Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Moradabad and Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), Chandigarh and Kaithal (Haryana). The units carried out various activities such as trees plantation, sweets distribution, 1000 lamp lighting, seminars and cultural programs celebrating the occasion.
Free Tibet – a voice from Assam, organised a press conference at Guwahati, as part of the 87th birthday celebration of His Holiness which began on 3 July, 2022 with a special long-life prayer offering to His Holiness at Dibrugarh, Assam. This special prayer assembly was organised by Buddha Chetana in collaboration with International Brotherhood mission, Dibrugarh & Free Tibet – a voice from Assam. The press conference was addressed by Sri. Soumyadeep Datta (Regional Convener NE 1- Core Group for Tibetan Cause & Convener, Free Tibet a voice from Assam), Padma Shri. Ajoy Dutta (well-known social worker) and Dr. Jagadindra Raychowdhury(educationist & writer). The press conference conveyed birthday greetings and prayers to His Holiness the Dalai Lama along with a strong appeal to Prime Minister of India to confer Barat Ratna, the highest civilian award to His Holiness without further delay.
Himalayan Committee for Action on Tibet (HIMCAT) led by Shri Sonam Lhundup Lama celebrated the occasion with students and staff with great joy at Salugura Monastery, West Bengal.
Bharat Tibbat Samanvay Sangh in Delhi celebrated the occasion with participation at official program at Majnukatilla Tibetan Colony where they also distributed sweets to school children.
Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India’s National Convener R. K. Khrimey attended the 87th birthday celebration of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh; Regional Convener Pema Wangda Bhutia at Gangtok, Sikkim in the presence of Sikkim Chief MinisterP. S. Tamang, Regional Convener Rishi Walia at Mcleod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh; Regional Convener Phuntsok Ladakhi at Delhi and other members at their respective places where they offered their well wishes to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and prayed for his long and healthy life to guide us all towards the path of love, peace, compassion, kindness and non-violence for the greater good of humanity.
