
DHARAMSHALA: The Indo-Tibet Friendship Association of Mandi, Sundernagar and Pandoh in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh resolved to raise awareness on the Tibet issue in India and foster harmonious relations between the two communities, in a meeting held on 29 October.
The meeting was attended by the respective members of the support groups. Participants include Mr. Jigme Tsultrim from the India-Tibet Co-ordination Office (ITCO) based in Delhi, Ms. Sushila Sonkhla, Mr. Lalit Kumar Sharma, Mr. Desh Raj Sharma, Mr. Tenzin Lekshey, Mr. Ngawang Dhondup, Mr, Pasang Gyalpo, Tenzin Chokdup, Pasang Tsering, Kherap Tsering and Gyaltsen.
The meeting discussed ways to raise awareness on the Tibet issue in India through talks and festivals in Indian colleges, and resolved to educate the general Indian public about the deteriorating situation inside Tibet.
They also expressed their commitment to foster harmonious relations between the Indian and the Tibetan people in India, particularly in areas where there are large Tibetan settlements.
They also suggested inter-community participations and exchanges during festivals and important anniversaries and celebrations. Such exchanges and participation would enable closer interaction and promote mutual affinity between the two communities, they said.
