Tibet Museum Showcases Photo Exhibition at Himachal Parivar Programme in Bharwai[Friday, 12 November 2010, 2:28 p.m.]

The Tibet Museum of Department of Information and International
Relations (DIIR) showcased photo exhibition titled “Long Look Homeward”
during a Himalaya Parivar’s Tibet Awareness programme held at Swami
Vivekanand Degree College, Bharwai, near Chintpurni on 11 November
2010. The photo exhibition portrays pictures of Tibet before and after
the Chinese invasion, Tibetans escape into exile and current situation
inside Tibet.Around 12.30 pm, the honourable chief guest Prof.
Laxmi Kanta Chawla, the Health Minister of Punjab, inaugurated the
exhibition. Also present during the function were, Mr Narendra Atri,
President, State Yuva Morcha, BJP and Mr Ashok Sharma, District chief,
RSS, Kangra.Earlier, at 10.30 am, a declamation contest on
Tibet issue was held at the same venue, between 16 students from seven
different schools – Arriant International School; Kinnu, Swami
Vevekananda (SV) School; Gagret, Senior Secondary School; Bharwai,
Saraswati Vidhya Mandhir (SVM) School; Paragpur, SVM School; Jawal,
Senior Secondary School; Gagret and Dhaulader School; Moien. The topics
of declamation contest are Tibet’s environment and independence,
India’s security, human rights violations in Tibet, Tibet’s history etc.Around
400 students and teachers from various schools thronged to visit the
photo exhibition and attended the declamation contest on Tibet issue.
With an aim to inform students about the Tibet issues, DIIR
publications were also distributed to students and other guests.
