Dharamshala: The Tibet Museum of the Department of Information and International Relations commemorated its 1st anniversary by launching an audio guide and interactive website this morning which was inaugurated by Kalon Norzin Dolma of the Department of Information & International Relations.
Kalon welcomed this significant initiative by stressing the repression and atrocities committed against Tibetans in Tibet by the Communist Chinese government.
The danger of the Tibetan identity being eradicated was real”, she pointed out while reiterating the recent statements released by the UN on the same. She congratulated the museum on its approach toward the digitisation and e-governance endeavours of the 16th Kashag.
DIIR’s Additional Secretary Tenzin Lekshay commended the approach of the Tibet Museum in generating an audio guide to the photographic installations so visitors could gain a clear background understanding of the photographic display. The audio guide is available in five languages- Tibetan, Hindi, English, Chinese and Italian.
Tibet Museum’s Director Tenzin Topdhen briefed about the evolution of the museum, the idea for which was initially incepted in 1998 and consecutively inaugurated in 2000 by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The objective was to spread awareness about the distinct Tibetan religion and culture, language, its current status, environment, and the evolution of Tibetan democracy. He shared that there were two ways through which the museum was able to do that in the form of tangible heritage and intangible heritage. He noted that the museum was engaged in developing its interactive website which is in line with the e-governance approach of the 16th Kashag.
