Tibet Museum Concludes Traveling Exhibition at Tibetan Settlement in Orissa

Orissa: The
Tibet Museum of Department of Information and International Relations
(DIIR) concluded its traveling exhibitions titled “Journey into Exile”
and “Long Look Homeward” at three centrally located Tibetan Settlements
in India, after holding exhibition at Orissa Phuntsokling Tibetan
Settlement from 6 – 8 July 2010, coinciding with 75th Birth Anniversary
of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

in India, after holding exhibition at Orissa Phuntsokling Tibetan
Settlement from 6 – 8 July 2010, coinciding with 75th Birth Anniversary
of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

exhibition was a part of “Thank You India” Programme and also to
celebrate 75th Birth Anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

The
photo exhibition, which was exhibited at Settlement Community Hall for
three days, was inaugurated on 6th July, at around 11 AM by Chairman of
Local Assembly, accompanied by Settlement Officer Mr Pema Dorjee. Large
number of local Tibetan residents including monks, students, teachers
and Indian dignitaries thronged to visit the photo exhibition. A total
of 60 panels were displayed, of which 35 panels portrays the life of
Tibetans in exile for last 50 years, and 25 panels depicts the past and
present situation inside Tibet. Irrespective of frequent rain shower
during the three days exhibition, more than one thousand and five
hundred people braved to visit the exhibition site. The exhibition
received high appreciation from local populace and was also urged to
carry similar exhibition at the settlement in near future.

Exhibition and his colleague, Mr Tenzin Rabga and Mr Penpa Tsering,
gave presentation about the structure and function of DIIR and Tibet
Museum and screened Tibet related movies “What Remain of Us” and
“Uprising in Tibet 2008” simultaneously for three days at Camp 1, Camp
3 and Camp 5.

Phendeling Tibetan Settlement from 28 -29 June 2010 and at Bandhara
Norgyeling Tibetan Settlement from 2-3 July 2010. The Tibet Museum of
DIIR, through its traveling exhibition, was able to create great amount
of awareness about issues related to Tibet and its people, during the
photo exhibitions and Tibet related movies screenings, in three
centrally located Tibetan Settlements in India.
