Brussels: The Tibet Interest Group (TIG) in the European Parliament is scheduled to hold a webinar on October 9 addressing, “How to Effectively Campaign for Tibet in the EU under the Pandemic Situation?”
It will be hosted and chaired by MEP Mikulas Peksa, the President of TIG where the three following specific questions will be discussed:
1. In the short term, how could the Tibetan issue be highlighted during the pandemic;
2. In view of the recent remarks by the Council President during the EU-China summit, how can the EU achieve further successes in defending the rights of Tibetans;
3. What can be done to bring attention to China coercing Tibetans into labour camps and what are the similarities with the situation in the Xinjiang region?
President Dr Sangay will be the Guest of Honour. Mr Tashi Phuntsok, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Brussels will also participate.
6 MEPs and their delegates have confirmed their participation as well. They are MEP Carles Puigdemont, MEP Antoni Comín, MEP Clara Ponsatí and MEP Isabel Santos. And two MEPs, Petra de Sutter and Yanbou Salima will be represented by their delegates as they are unable to participate themselves.
