Tokyo, Japan: Tibet House Japan started its three-month Saturday Tibetan Language Class this Saturday. The class has been organized with limited physical attendance and major online participation. Last year, because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the language class could not happen. This year, in accordance with the request from many corners, it was decided to be held online with minimum physical attendance.
Around thirty participants joined for regular classes from various parts of Japan online, some as far as Shimane and Okinawa prefectures. Physical attendance was restricted to less than ten with strict observance of Coronavirus regulations.
Representative Dr. T.G. Arya welcomed the students online and thanked them for taking interest in the Tibetan language. He said this conversation, reading, and writing class would open a great door to the Tibetan world of spiritualism and wisdom.
“Language is an important means to understand the culture and tradition of other countries. Therefore, Tibet House shall endeavor to impart and share many aspects of Tibetan history and spiritual culture through this language class.” He said.
The students expressed their happiness for their being able to participate in the Tibetan language class despite the Coronavirus situation. Some said they hope to know more about Tibet and its rich spiritual heritage through the class. Dr. Arya is assisted by Mr. Jigme Tsetan and two volunteer staff in organizing and planning the language class.
