Tokyo: Tibet House Japan Representative Dr. Arya Tsewang Gyalpo held an online general meeting with Tibetan community in South Korea On 12 June.
The director of Labsum Shedrupling Ling Geshe Tenzin Namkha, Geshes, PhD students among others who are based in different parts of South Korea attended the meeting. Two board members of the Tibetan community in Japan, S. Tsering and Karma Lhamo, also participated in the meeting.
In his address, Representative Dr. Arya spoke about the importance of unity, preserving our culture and identity, and not forgetting the common cause. He advised establishing Tibetan association in the region to build connections with and to seek the support of the Korean public, government and parliament for the Tibetan cause.
Representative Arya said the collection of the Green Book voluntary contribution by the Tibetans in Korea will be streamlined in consultation with the finance department.
He said the Tibetans in Korea can create awareness of Tibetan Buddhism and culture through an online Tibet festival as there are good Tibetan human resources in Korea.
He said the Tibet House Japan will offer support for the welfare of Tibetans in Korea as per the law of the country.

Representative Arya thanked the Tibetans in Korea for their wholehearted concern and generous donation towards India’s PM Cares Fund to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. He promised to visit the region once the Coronavirus pandemic subsides.
Geshe Namkha Tenzin of Labsum Shedrupling, official representative and coordinator in Korea, spoke about the monastery’s effort to promote and preserve Tibetan Buddhism and culture in Korea. He spoke on the Tibetans and their activities too.
Two board members of the Tibetan community in Japan spoke about the evolution of the organization and activities being carried out to create awareness and seek the support of the Japanese people for the Tibetan cause.
During the meeting, Tibetan Geshes said they are doing their best on an individual level to establish centers to create awareness of the rich Tibetan Buddhism and culture in Korea. The participants expressed joy and satisfaction for being able to talk and discuss with the CTA Representative.
The meeting discussed ways to use the Tibetan human resources to strengthen unity and promotion of Tibetan culture and religion, and seek political support for the Tibet issue.
